So you all know I'm missing EQ for good reasons...
Today my friend and I hiked up to a pool we saw on our last hike. The river bends, and because of the way the rocks and rapids are, has carved a rather deep pool into the side, that has a wonderful circular current (which gets quite fast sometimes!) that you can ride around and around.
The water was amazingly clear (and cold -- about 62F), and the air was a balmy 80F with a very hot sun and warm breeze. We alternated between swimming and reading/sleeping all day.
The pool:
My friend about to go swimming (it got so deep we couldn't stand a couple of feet from where she's standing, and the current was insanely swift -- to the point that we were afraid we'd be thrown into the rocks on the far side. Luckily the current whisks you to the side in time.)
The clear water and bright sun made for some very neat photos:
