The TLP Server
#1
This January 1st, the TAKP devs are going to open a spin-off server, which I understand will be a 2-box progression server. After its run, all characters will be folded back into the main TAKP server.

Rules
Timeline

TAKP is still our server; Temerity isn't going anywhere. The center of gravity for the guild, and all our official raids, will remain here on TAKP.

We do imagine that some of our members will want to try it out, however, so we'll create a Temerity guild there for fun and socializing. This sub-forum is for TLP discussion.

Our assumption is that most Tems who play there will do so casually. As such, we're not planning to run any official raids there, or set up a loot system.

If there's interest down the road, we can create some kind of casual process for adding friends and acquaintances to TLP-Temerity without a lengthy application process, in the event that people who play there want to invite people they meet. These people would get TLP sub-forum access but otherwise wouldn't be guild members.

If at some point things evolve to the point that more structure is required, we can adapt as necessary.

I see a lot of gnome clerics in guild. Did starting with more intelligence than wisdom hinder you?
Seems like they would be awful in classic!

Being able to see through walls trumps losing a few mana for me, but YMMV.

Ok but what we all want to know is how will Altmerity handle alt loot?

Ranked by donation amount to dog related charities. Credits applied for dog photos posted. Clearly the superior method.

From the takp forums. TAKP TLP launch info.

Launch date: January 1, 2025
Time: 10:00 a.m. PST
General Login: loginserver.takproject.net:6000
TLP Login (ideal for Intel Client): TAKPTLP.takproject.net:6000

NOTE: For now you can log in and look around. To log into Dev server:

1. open eqhost.txt (in your main EverQuest directory)
2. change .net to .org on both lines
3. save, close, launch EQ as you normally would

To get back to normal reverse the change in eqhost.txt

Could you get this to work?  I couldn't, it kept giving me SISATEXT etc errors.

From Solar on TAKP forums.
"Make a copy of your EverQuest.app directory, either put them into identifiable directories like
~/Desktop/takp/EverQuest.app
~/Desktop/takdev/EverQuest.app
or just call the directory something else while still keeping it ending in .app like
~/Desktop/EverQuest-TLP.app
~/Desktop/EverQuest-takpdev.app

Anyway do whatever works for you, the point is that you make a copy of it so that the eqhost.txt file can be different. It doesn't have to be on the Desktop, you can organize your files however you want for this part.

In the copy you made, edit the Contents/Resources/eqhost.txt file, for example ~/Desktop/takdev/EverQuest.app/Contents/Resources/eqhost.txt

Change the [Login Servers] in there, the registration one doesn't matter.

The TAKP Dev server's login server is loginserver.takproject.org:6000
The TAKP server's login server is loginserver.takproject.net:6000
The TLP server's login server is TAKPTLP.takproject.net:6000

You can make 3 copies of the app directory and have 3 different eqhost.txt files that way.

I can't help with the launchers because I don't use them, but I launch from Terminal like this:
Code:
open ~/Desktop/takdev/EverQuest.app --args patchme /ticket:username/password
If you have the dev server configured right and you haven't logged in with that credential before, you should get a pop up window saying
Code:
Account did not exist so it was created.
Hit connect again to login.
Simply try a second time and it should go to the character select.

Hope this helps. "

PS: I am still not grokking this (

UPDATE: STARSHA got me lined out )

Thanks for this Neea. I made a duplicate and rename of both the EQ and Launcher apps, and was able to modify the eqhost.txt no problem for the EQ App copy, but since I use a launcher, I'm not sure where to make the adjustment in my launcher copy to use the copy EQ app.

Anyone have any ideas?
