Merry Christmas (also Solstice, Hanukah, Kwanzaa, etc). <br><br>
I had forgotten to post my eggnog recipe, which I got from a friend, so I can't claim it as my own. <img src="/forums/images/gpicons/face_grin.gif"> It is frothy and delicious and rich, and nothing like the pre-packaged stuff. <br><br>
6 eggs
1 pint heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup sugar
1 quart half and half
Liquor (rum or bourbon are traditional, you can even blend them)
Nutmeg
Separate the eggs. Beat the yolks until thick and add the sugar and liquor. You need to add enough to "cook" the eggs - at least a quarter cup or so, and 3-4 times that if you like. <br><br>
In a separate container beat the egg whites until they are stiff. Fold them into the yolk mixture gently, blending them together. <br><br>
Beat the cream until it forms peaks and sweeten it to taste - normal whipped cream is 3 Tbs. sugar per cup of whipping cream. Fold the whipped cream into the egg mixture. <br><br>
Add the half and half, and mix well. Sprinkle with nutmeg and serve immediately. <br><br>
You can keep this (if there is any left) in the refrigerator for a day or two. Just stir it up with a whisk before serving. It does spoil easily, so don't leave it out too long at room temperature. <br><br>
