Mage Focus Items - what they can do for you
#1
Info for new members and old. Mages can summon 5 different focus items that people may find useful.

Bracer - Adds 1 to 20% (random) to damage of DD spells (including lifetaps).

Earring - Save 1 to 15% (random) mana on DD spells (including lifetaps).

Mantle - Adds 15% to length of buffs (great for KEI).

Ring - Reduces cast time of spells by 15%.

Necklace - Gives 15% change to not consume spell reagent (great for Aego, etc).

All the items I can summon work with spells up to and including level 65 spells.

Some people ask for them all the time, you should too. They are not just for raids.

These items are NO RENT.

Edited by Presto 4/15/2004 12:09 PM (Most Recent)

I'm pretty sure the earring reduces mana cost on all mob targetted spells, including snares/dots/charms/mezzes/pacifys.

-- Bastette of Medivh
-- Bastette of Al'Kabor
Necklace is situational like the mantle.

I used necklace when i do a lot of CoHs and Mantle when i solo to keep my buffs on longer. Just swap my main item for those when needed.

Necklace used to save me a stack or so of pearls after a night of 70 or more CoHs on PC.

Yes, the Earring affects all Detrimental Spells, to be precise.

-- Aarlo Farlo (Magelo)

bracelet is just about only 44+ ID item youll see on the server for a while, and spell haste is gonna be rare. its two focus effects i couldnt imagine living without. for necros and such, PC side mages can summon bracelets for making dots stronger, LDoN only.

eh, probably well known, but bracer dmg is calculated on raw dmg, so crits and such wont multiply or be multiplied by bracer dmg, and rains and aoes arent affected either from what ive seen.

see, we summon more than daggers.

--------------------------
Actually we farmed a ID focus item last night for Bastette. It only works on cold nukes, so can only really be used by wizzies, shaman, druids (with lvl 60 moonfire only), and maybe necros. It's about 3% better than mage stuff.

Nihilists! Fuck me. I mean, say what you like about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos.
Yeha, don't be shy. When Bastette first logs on, she does /who all tem mag and starts trepping out to get herself a set of focus gear for the day. She's got no shame. (hm... until now maybe.)

Similar thing with Mod Rods. I think most mages consider this to be a primary role, not a secondary role. Don't be shy about asking for them, especially in a group. 'Chaining' mod rods (every 5 min) works out to about FT 7.2, so that's no small matter! If a cleric or wizard (in particular) is asking for a mod rod and I have mana for either one rod or one nuke, I'll always give the rod because the mana is better spent on those two classes.

-- Aarlo Farlo (Magelo)

somewhere has it listed as LDoN, wtf.

myst rod takes 400ish mana to cast, gives back 300, with specialization it works pretty well mana efficiency wise. i get all the mana from casting one back with 1 rod charge (about). chain em in groups too if you want, cleric or druid having a hard time mana wise? chain rods. with regen 3 it should come close to negating the charge by the time you use another one (depending on what lvl you are).

--------------------------
