It seems my Power Mac G4 that i play EQ on has fried again..it cant seem to boot and when it does it shows a gray screen with an Apple folder falshing a ? mark. Anybody know what the problem is?

Your machine can't find a "blessed" seytem folder. Start up with an OSX or restore CD and select Startup Disk from the menu on the top of the screen.

...then run Diskwarrior or something to try to find out why your computer can't find a blessed system folder. Likely causes are permission issues, and ailing hard drive. Start with the disk diagnostics on the OSX boot CD. Then repair permissions.

You can also find any bootable OS by restarting your machine and holding down the option key. If you have multiple harddrives with multiple OSs on them it will find one. If that doesn't work, I would boot to the OS CD that came with your system (reboot system with CD in drive and hold down the "C" key) and run disk correction system and fix disk permissions. If the system CD doesn't work you may have to use another tool such as Disk Warrior (I personally used this tool on my last G4). If that still doesn't work it's clean install time with the OS, boot to the CD and reinstall the OS because you need an OS to play EQ. If I remember correctly, you should be able to install the OS without erasing the drive and your information. If that doesn't fix it, we can always persue other options....good luck!!

hmm wierd i rebooted it this afternoon and it booted up fine and is working well...strange:confused:

Don't just ignore it. Do what people have suggested. Maintenance is a good thing.
