Mage Focus Items - what they can do for you

Its LoY trust me,<br /><br />I had that spell scribed way before LDoN came out. I also used to quest the spell and sell on my vendor for 2k a pop. I was playing PC when LDoN came out and the only spell from that expansion are point bought spells from adventures.<br /><br /><br /> IF you got it off Alakazam or Castersrealm they are allways wrong with spells and expansions. They have some gear listed as kunark when its droped in SoV still.<br /><br /><br /><img src=http://65.104.121.87/portalvbvs/Raginig.gif target=_blank> </img> <BR>

<center><div class="QuotedForumText" style="width: 90%;text-align: left;"><hr><b>quote:</b><br><br>'Chaining' mod rods (every 5 min) works out to about FT 7.2, so that's no small matter! If a cleric or wizard (in particular) is asking for a mod rod and I have mana for either one rod or one nuke, I'll always give the rod because the mana is better spent on those two classes. <hr></div></center>

Yeah clerics are funny though. Rarely do I need to chain modrods except on the rare rare occasions a month or two ago when the PoD camps were hard but doable and we'd have just a mage and no BST and I was the only limiting factor in mana (errr, I think that maybe happened once.)

Modrods for me are the quick hit when I'm low and it looks like there are more incoming. But the cleric life is so driven by what *might* happen, that if I have a chance to maybe regen it and be able to use the modrod later, I won't risk the 5 minutes without a modrod. I've lost fights that way, when I need the modrod at 4 min 30 seconds, and have been sitting at full for much of the time up until then. Then again, delay too long and you're in a protracted battle where you really wish you could've used it twice, heh.

We don't use mana constantly. We use very very little and then QUITE an awful lot all at once.

Except boss mob raids -- then I'm chaining them, although only a few times have we fought anything that let me get more than 1 - 2 clicks in.<br /><br /><br />--<BR>

Get into the habbit on boss mobs after your first heal click the rod. Then as the fight goes on click it if ya remember it.<br /><br />Even as a mage when i nuke/summon a pet on the boss mob i then click a rod to get back full mana and start to nukeing process. And when the 5min is up and or i remember to click again its there for that last burst of mana.<br /><br /><br />Thats unless ya in a fight like EMP, high Priest ect where the whole fight lasts 30min+<br /><br /><br /><img src=http://65.104.121.87/portalvbvs/Raginig.gif target=_blank> </img> <BR>

I pretty much try to use my modrod obsessive compulsively every thirty seconds hoping it refreshes since I always need mana.<br /><br /><br />Nihilists! Fuck me. I mean, say what you like about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos.<br>

Also dont be scurd to send tells to mages during raids for Rods.<br /><br /><br />Every mage should have CoH and single Mod Rods loaded. And they should either have /target (cleric name) hot keys to get rods to them fast as hell.<br /><br />On my PC mage i have about 20 cleric target hot keys ready for the long fights, so all they have to do is ask for a mod rod and hit that key and its done in seconds.<br /><br /><br /><img src=http://65.104.121.87/portalvbvs/Raginig.gif target=_blank> </img> <BR>

I haven't forgotten in a long, long time to use the modrod. Apologies ahead of time for when I snap during a raid when I saw LOM and am asked for the 4th time "did you use the modrod?" -- I understand it's a fairly reasonable question to ask (although it feel condescending), but I'm usually cranky at that moment. And being asked yet AGAIN doesn't help.

I usually hit it after the 2nd or 3rd, though: the difference is rarely gonna be more than 30 seconds or so, and I can't usually spare the concentration in those first critical round or two of the CH rot.

My mana pool is such that if we're nearing the 5 minute mark, I'm sitting there spamming the hell out of it because I'm so LOM. Remember, I'm casting pretty much constantly in these fights with not a lot of time to med (and if the meds are short enough, I'm missing regen ticks.)<br /><br /><br />--<BR>

Speaking from the PC raids i been on...

Well when you go on a raid with 9 clerics, and most of them allways say they forgot they had a mod rod during a uba boss kill and ya wiped. Well need i say more?

Just a habit of reminding people.<br /><br /><br /><img src=http://65.104.121.87/portalvbvs/Raginig.gif target=_blank> </img> <BR>

If ya love em now.

Imagine pre nurff rods

20-3 charge rods sitting on the ground to pick up get full mana and use one CH for yourself. And never going OOM on a raid......

But the downfall was people killing themselves by not paying attention to either low HP agro and or just stupid clicking without heals.<br /><br /><br /><img src=http://65.104.121.87/portalvbvs/Raginig.gif target=_blank> </img> <BR>

Oh ya! I think I agreed it was a reasonable question. I don't think you should *stop*. Although the 4th such question after I've answered it the other 3 times does get to be a bit much.

Heck, we all get ticked at reasonable things in this game: I know a certain chanter who gets down my throat every time I tell him a buff has worn off, heh heh (or at least used to). And I'll admit when the group symbol is wearing off and group_member_01 tells the group, "Symbol is dropping"; group_member_02 tells the group, "Oh yeah me too"; group_member_03 tells the group, "Ya on me too, can I get symbol?" I'm about ready to strangle people.

Am I happy to know the buff wore off? Yes. Did I need to know 5 times that the group buff wore off? No. Is it reasonable to expect everyone to know every spell that is a group spells? No. Does it still get under my skin somedays? heh heh yeppers. I dread MGB....!

One thing I'm happy we don't do a lot of: pestering the clerics incessently in /rs and /gu for rezzes after wipes. thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!!!<br /><br /><br />--<BR>

i killed myself by accident right after a rez once.. was in the habbit of using a 1 charge mod rod after rez which didnt take so much HP.<br /><br />the rod nerf was understandable, i mean instant FM is crazy, but did they have to put THAT long of a refresh on it.<img src="/forums/images/gpicons/face_sad.gif"> soloing my buffed regen cancels it out, but on raids i definitely could click it faster than it refreshes and not worry about HP.<br /><br /><br />--------------------------<br>
