New Officer
#1
Some of you have noticed by now that with work, moving, and other RL considerations, lately we, the officers, have not been able to commit the time and resources required to keep the guild running smoothly. To rectify this situation, we have decided that we need to add another officer to our ranks. After much discussion we have decided to depart from our traditional method of officer selection. We considered many options, including selecting the longest standing members in the guild, voting among the guild members, or selecting those who have been officers in other guilds.

In the end, we decided that none of these methods would embody a truly fair selection process. Furthermore, any new officer would be facing the same possibility of getting bogged down in guild administration and burning out or losing their enjoyment of the game. Only one method addressed both of these problems at once.

And so, it is my pleasure to announce the Officer of the Month Club. Each month, on the first of the month, all interested guild members should gather in PoK at 9PM EST. At that time, we will /rand among all Temerity members present to select a new officer for that month. You do not have the option of declining; if you do not want to risk becoming an officer, we recommend that you not be in PoK at that time. Note that you may be Officer of the Month multiple times, but not in two consecutive months.

The Officer of the Month will have all the responsibilities and privileges of a regular officer. In addition, we have created the following benefits:

You may use the /shout channel on raids. We ask that you restrict cyber to tells (or /gu, if you really have to share), though obviously, we will not enforce this.

You or an alt of your choice may be PLed one (1) post-60 level, two (2) pre-60 levels, or five (5) AAs, your choice.

Once per month, you may call "dibs" on one loot drop. This item then becomes yours. Note that you may use this privilege for your main or an alt, but only once total, not once per character.

/tell Kyth Badger

You may /guildremove one Temerity member of your choice. You must /guildinvite this person again at the end of the month.

You may create a custom title for yourself, such as "Your Lordship" or "Your Most Holy and Invincible Majesty, Master of All He Surveys". All members must address you in-game by this title. Anyone who does not will lose attendance credit for all raids that week.

You may add one (1) question to the Temerity application for your month. Applicants who do not answer that question to your liking will not be considered for membership. (e.g. "Should Eildar get ALL phat lewt dropped on raids?")

No cyber from Spinjas.

Wait a minute there, you haven't considered what happens if someone is bound in PoK and happens to die right at that time. It's hardly fair for them to be made officer of the month if they didn't want to miss out on the cyber from Spinjas for a whole month. So unless you want to force everyone to bind in PoT, you should make an exception for people who are naked at the time of the random selection for officers. We don't want to see the officers naked anyway.

Socratus Wittgenstein - Dwarf Archon
I recommend that you just not do anything dangerous at that time, or be
ready to zone into PoT quickly if you die. The roll is binding,
and will take place at exactly 9PM each month on the first. If
you can't hold off doing something life-threatening for two minutes to
avoid dying at that time, you're clearly officer material!
How then do you justify us keeping a beastlord and druid around as officers?

--
Most of you know that in that in the past I had been an officer in DC, although I stepped down near the beginning of January well prior to my detagging from the guild. Since one of the privileges of the new Officer of the Month position was guildremoving one person, I wanted to bring up an incident that may be a source of concern for some of you, should I happen to die at the wrong time, and hence become eligigible for officer of the month.

It's a hard thing to admit, but I would feel better about it if all in my new guild are aware of my past indiscretion. During a raid one of the DC officers guildremoved a member who was being a smartass on the raid. After what seemed to me to be a suitably long chastisement (about 15 minutes) I guildinvited him back again without consulting either the guild leader or the other officers. I know that unilateral action on the part of a single officer is not the way things are done here, so I felt I should mention this episode.

Oh, btw, the guild member who was removed and that I retagged? Tharsel.

Socratus Wittgenstein - Dwarf Archon
but then it would only be in effect for that month, in which for that one month you can cyber with yourself. after which, the rule will become null.

so.. why bother. now go cyber yourself some more spinjas.

--------------------------
Actually, if you read the rule correctly, the officer cannot receive cyber FROM Spinjas for that month. So, he cannot cyber himself if he's an officer. I presume he can continue to cyber anyone else that doesn't already have him on /ignore for just that reason.

Sukaisi Shadowskin, Taruun, Shar Vahl Garrison

I think some officers since have adopted this policy outside of 4-1-xx Tongue~ :whip:

Ah Zorb! Will you please lead some raids for old times sake?
