how does the second one look? (remember i can make skinless versions of these as well, so no need for lag concerns)

and just noticed theres no labels. for the bar...
primary | secondary | range | ammo | inv | inv | inv | inv | hotbutton bank | hotbutton number | hotbutton up and down | spells

with a pet bar that fits on the side thats compact

and blue bar under target is casting bar.

and 2 buttons at bottom of center is invite/disband

That's pretty slick looking actually. It'd be interesting to see it in action. So what screen resolution is this designed for? It seems that it's a lot more tied to a specific screen size than UI's that are just bits and pieces you fit any old way on your screen.

Have you tried it out to see if there's any lag? It's not clear to me from the 2nd screenshot where the hotbuttons and inventory stuff might be. I like having a few of my inventory slots visible to make it easy to click invis potions and such without having to open inventory. In any case, it's an interesting layout.

its designed for 1024 or higher. just stretch your chat windows or
whatever you like. other combinations for it too, and im thinking in
theory it will be less lag since it combines windows.

i posted a thing with all the slots.

edit: HOLY SHIT i found this on my webserver: WTF? (brings back memories)

oh yeah, i dont know for sure on lag or not because its just photoshop,
i dont have access to EQ to test coding yet, but i still have a lot
more design to do anyway (AND A JOB SOON IT LOOKS!) so by the time i
can code it ill have EQ. gonna be a bitch, oh well.

Oh sweet, I like the thing that shows your loc all the time (it will do that, right?)

well im talking to sae in ichat, so i answered his ?, but for those who
dont know there was a mod somewhere that had + and - around the compass
which meant you go in that direction itll add or subtract whatever it
read. like north is +,0 means go north and it will add to the first
number and not the second, while -,+ will subtract first and add to
second. it basically is a 2nd label for north, south, and all that
relative to the loc system.

Just a cosmetic nitpick, I would nudge the F1-F6 tags a few pixels to the right to line up with the health gauges when this actually hits xml. Doesn't look so hot directly over the percentage labels.

I like your spell icon borders, most people don't think to theme those.

i debate leaving them or not, but i think i like them left on too (i
mean you can fade them out anyway why not) cause it gives you a
draggable reference. thing i hate is perma labels (dont worry i can
code them in heh) cause i click somewhere and accidentally click the
window instead of the normal area.

now i just need to come up with a good inv layout.. sigh. anyone know
if you can permanently block out windows, or how to handle multiple
windows? my guess is ill have to just put 'close this window' on all
the unused windows (group for example) since they are combined in on
other ones).

Heh I'm still really liking your mockup, looks like you put a lot of time into it.

The best thing to do is just manually hide any unsued windows when you load up the UI. The ui seems to generate less lag with fewer windows open.

But if you want to make a window look empty on-screen, the best way to do it would be to futz around with the transparency option in the xml file, or just push all of the elements to a bizarre location like 500,500 and shrink the size of the window to 1,1.

You could also give the unused windows new functions, like clicky banks. I ended up combining my player, group, and target windows and turning the player window into an EQII themed exp bar:

Edit: I'm in love with your stick figure spell icons. Release pls.

im considering doing that actually, except make a whole new UI for it.

but yeah im thinking ill probably make one of the unused windows a
second bar with a bunch more banks and inv slots or some such.
